MediateBC

A non-profit organization that protects the public by managing the provincial Child Protection Mediation Program, as well as rosters of mediators and med-arb practitioners across BC.

How does Mediate BC protect the public:

  • Ensuring mediators have met objectively verifiable training, experience criteria, and are therefore designated Registered Roster Mediators (RRM).
  • Maintaining and enforcing Standards of Conducts.
  • Addressing and responding to public complaints directed at practitioners on our various rosters
  • Providing opportunities for professional development and information for acceptable levels of training and standards for ethical practice.
  • Raising the public’s awareness of medication and other conflict resolution processes.

Services:

  • Child Protection Mediation Program
    • Helps promote collaboration and understanding between the Ministry for Children and Family Development (MCFD) and the families it serves.
    • Helps mediate child protection matters.

        • The Navigator Project helps families and service providers collaboratively address child welfare matters.
        • Collaborative Decision-Making processes are out-of-court processes that encourage families to share their voices in decision-making.

  • Public Education
    • Expand public knowledge of conflict resolution resources through website, blog, social media, brochures, helpful staff and special events.
    • Aims to build awareness of options for people who need support in disputes resolution.
